Ornamental Grass Miscanthus Nepalensis. Nepalese Fairy Grass. This compact and unusual very Miscanthus makes an excellent specimen. Native to the Himalaya and Burma this hardy grass forms bold clumps of elegant green foliage.100 cm. x 100 cm. This is followed in summer by pendulous finger like plumes of yellowish drooping flower heads. These persist into the autumn and make good architectural seed-heads. It isn’t completely hardy in the extreme north and will benefit from some protection during winter.

Ornamental Grass Miscanthus Nippon A new excellent compact selection and one of the smallest Miscanthus. Thin, dark green, fine textured foliage is 5mm wide with fantastic early flowering red plumes, a good red-bronze autumn colour. Foliage is held somewhat horizontally arching, giving the plant a bamboo-like appearance. Dark red-brown plume appear late August and are held about 25cm above the foliage. An excellent selection for the smaller garden Sunny open spot. 1.2- 1.4 meters height. Prefers free draining open sunny site.

Ornamental Grass Miscanthus Punktchen

Easily grown in average, medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Tolerant of a wide range of soils from well-drained sandy soils to the heavy clays. Best in full sun. Typically forming an upright foliage clump to 1.2 m however it sends up unusually long flower stalks (to 1 mtr above the foliage). Finely-textured, dark green leaves with zebra-striped, golden yellow bands extending horizontally across the leaves at approximately 10 cm intervals. Foliage gradually fades to tan after frost. Tiny reddish-brown flowers appear in tassel-like inflorescences well above the foliage in late summer, gradually turning into silvery white plumes in fall. Flower plumes persist well into winter providing good winter interest.
